






BEIJING, Mar. 26 -- China's electricity imports from Russia last year totaled 738 million kilowatt hours, an amount 416 times the amount imported in 2008, according to the country's General Administration of Customs.
The imported power, valued at US$29.09 million, was delivered to Heilongjiang Province in northern China.
Heilongjiang Electric Power Co Ltd predicted that the province will import 1 billion-kWh of power from Russia in 2010, an amount worth more than US$40 million.
According to China's National Energy Administration, the country consumed 626.4 billion kWh of electricity in the first two months of this year, 25.95% more than in the same period of last year. Total consumption included 84.3 billion kWh in household consumption.
