2010 February Cu Output Data Analysis

SHANGHAI, Mar. 15 (SMM) --

Copper Concentrate
China's output of copper concentrate was 90 kt in February, up 20% YoY, and up 10.3% MoM. Copper concentrate is sensitive to prices, and the recent gains resulted in increases of copper concentrate output during February. SMM believes that China's copper concentrate output will increase further in March.

Refined Copper Supply
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), China's refined copper output was 358 kt in February, up 4.07% YoY, and up 65 kt MoM. YTD output was 702 kt, up 16.20% YoY. China's total output of refined copper was low in January and February due to Chinese New Year holiday, but output of refined copper will increase in March as prices rise.
