China's Nonferrous Metal Output Hits 26.05 mln T in 2009

BEIJING, Feb. 25 -- China's total output of ten kinds of nonferrous metal reached 26.05 million tons last year, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 3.99%, according to statistics released by China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.

China produced 4.11 million tons of refined copper, 12.85 million tons of virgin aluminum, 3.71 million tons of lead, 4.36 million tons of zinc, 164,800 tons of nickel, 134,500 tons of tin, 165,800 tons of antimony, 500,800 tons of magnesium and 61,500 tons of titanium sponge.

Last year, ten regions in China, each of which produced more than 1 million tons of the ten kinds of nonferrous metal, saw their total output reach 18.78 million tons and account for 72.1% of the whole country's output.

The ten regions included Henan Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Anhui Province.

In 2009, the trade value of nonferrous metal was US$83.2 billion, down 11.27% year on year.

Reportedly, Zhejiang Province plans to have five nonferrous metal producers with annual sales revenue exceeding RMB 10 billion each in the next three years.
