JAKARTA, Feb 2 (Reuters) - Operations at Newmont Indonesia, a unit of Newmont Mining Corp, have returned to normal following an accident at a mine last month, a company official said on Tuesday.

PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara said previously that a rock-slide occurred at the Batu Hijau copper and gold mine on Sumbawa island, eastern Indonesia, on January 17, burying a dozer operator who was working at the site.

"After the government conducted an investigation, activity has returned to normal," said Kasan Mulyono, NNT spokesman.

"Production will be carried out according to plan," he added.

An Indonesian mines and energy ministry official said previously that the accident would not affect production.

Output from PT NNT was already forecast to slip 1.5-2 percent annually for the next five years, according to the ministry.

PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara had expected the mine to produce 500 million pounds of copper concentrate and 525,000 ounces of gold in 2009.
