UPDATE 1-Arizona Rains to Trim Quadra Copper Output

TORONTO, Feb 2 (Reuters) - Quadra Mining said on Tuesday that first-quarter production from its Carlota copper mine in Arizona will be lower than forecast due to rainwater buildup.

The mine, located just west of Miami, Arizona, has experienced a series of major rains storms, resulting in excess accumulation in the mine pit, the Canadian copper and gold miner said in a statement.

Quadra did not say to what degree production would be affected, but said the impact on the company's overall 2010 production forecast of 250 million pounds of copper would not be significant, as it hopes to recover the lost pounds over the course of the year.

Carlota, one of three mines the company operates in the United States and Chile, had been expected to produce 50 million pounds of copper cathode in 2010, according to Quadra's website.

Quadra's shares were up 8 Canadian cents at C$15.14 on the Toronto Stock Exchange, slightly underperforming the TSX materials sector.
