CHALCO Starts Construction of High-Precision Copper Semis Project

SHANGHAI, Jan. 21 -- The Aluminum Corporation of China Co. Ltd.'s (CHALCO) subsidiary, Kunming Copper Co. Ltd., has kicked off construction of a 220 kt/yr high-precision copper semis project in Kunming city, Yunnan province after 5-month preparation, with a total investment of nearly RMB 2 billion, and with main products including copper wire for electrical use, contact wire for high-speed railway, electrical round copper wire, copper flat wire, and other high-precision electrical copper semis.

The project will report sales revenue of more than RMB 10 billion, and tax and profit of RMB 80 million after it comes online, which will help accelerate local economic development, enhance employment, and promote industrial structure adjustment.
