SHANGHAI, Jan. 15 (SMM) -- The number of US workers filing new claims for jobless unexpectedly increased by 11,000 in the week ended January 9th, with previous forecast of declines by 4,000. Moreover, the US retail sales data surprisingly fell by 0.3% in December. Weak data weighed on the US dollar, but the technology sector led US stocks higher. LME copper market showed moderate performance, with prices flat with a day earlier, and prices closed at USD 7,490/mt, up USD 5/mt, generally moving around USD 7,500/mt.
