






BEIJING, Jan. 7 -- Hubei Province intends to build 21 clean-energy plants within three years to reduce the use of traditional thermal power plants and thus reduce carbon dioxide emissions, Xinhua News Agency reported.
According to the plan, the province will build five wind power plants, one each in Tongshan, Lichuan, Dawu, Zhongxiang and Suizhou, and eight power plants that use wheat straw, one each in Dangyang, Jianli, Shayang, Yicheng, Jingshan, Qichun, Dongxihu and Laifeng.
In addition, six power bases that convert garbage to energy will be constructed, one each in Hankou, Jiangxia, Hanyang, Huangshi, Jingzhou and Xiangfan, and two biogas power bases will be built, one each in Huanggang and Jiangxia.
Reportedly, Hubei plans to invest more than RMB 1 trillion this year and to apply for venture capital funds for emerging industries such as clean energy, biopharmaceuticals and electronics and information technology.
