2009 March Cu Apparent Consumption Data Analysis

SHANGHAI, Apr. 23 (SMM) --
Refined Copper:
Domestic apparent refined copper consumption was 615.9kt during March, up 47.13% YoY.  Cumulative apparent consumption was 1669.4kt, up 35.5% YoY. Increases in China's apparent copper consumption were due mainly to the substitution effect caused by declines in scrap copper supply and the national reserve program.  Actual apparent consumption was slightly lower than current data, so consumption of refined copper will not directly reflect overall Chinese demand for copper.
