2009 June Pb Imports Data Analysis

SHANGHAI, Jul. 24 (SMM) --
Imports:
Lead Concentrates:
According to China Customs, China imported 164.4kt of lead concentrate during June, up 51% MoM.  YTD imports were 713.8kt, up 25.7% YoY.  Lead concentrate ordered during April or May arrived at ports during June, contributing to import growth.  Import volumes from the US, Peru, and Poland were reported higher on a monthly basis.
Refined Lead:
According to China Customs, China's imports of refined lead were 17.5kt during June, down 31% MoM.  YTD imports were 128kt, up 2210% YoY. The MoM decline in import volume was mainly due to declines in imports from east Asia, with relatively large decline in Japanese imports.
