2009 April Pb Imports Data Analysis
SHANGHAI, May. 22 (SMM) --
Lead Concentrates:
China's imports of lead concentrate were 111.9kt during April, up 0.33% MoM; YTD cumulative imports were 440.7kt, up 8% YoY, in line with the tightness of lead concentrate supply. The top three countries of origin were Peru, India and Australia, with15kt of lead concentrates imported from India.
Refined Lead:
According to China Customs, China's imports of refined lead were 36.4kt during April, up 43% MoM. YTD cumulative imports were 84.7kt, up 1456% YoY, due mainly to the arrivals of previous imports. As domestic/LME lead price ratio was unfavorable for imports during April, May imports are expected to fall accordingly. All 155mt of refined lead in April were exported to South Africa.
