SHANGHAI, July 24 (SMM) --
Zinc Concentrate:
According to latest data from China Customs, China's imports of zinc concentrate were 249kt during June, down 17.4% MoM. YTD imports were 1.59 million mt, up 48.7% YoY. Declines in imported zinc concentrate were attributed to the gradual and stable growth in domestic supply of zinc concentrate.
Refined Zinc:
According to latest data from China Customs, China's imports of refined zinc were 67kt during June, down 29.9% MoM. YTD imports were 479kt, up 592.6% YoY. The MoM decline in imports was due mainly to the unfavorable SHFE/LME zinc price ratio.
China's exports of refined zinc were 1,660mt during June, up 16500% MoM. YTD exports were 5,847mt, down 85.69% YoY. Although June exports recorded significant increases compared to May's 10mt, weak global demand was still the key factor for lower exports of refined zinc.
Zinc Oxide:
In other news, China exported 995 mt of zinc oxide during June, with YTD exports of 5,174 mt, a drop of 77.1% YoY. Meanwhile, China imported 1,933 mt of zinc oxide, with YTD imports of 7,577 mt, down 24.3%, and in line with market expectations.
