Guinean Bauxite Shipment via Beibu Gulf Port Reduces Transit Time by 25 Days, Ensures Stable Supply to Chongqing

Published: Oct 15, 2026 16:57 (GMT+8)
According to Beibu Gulf Port Co., Ltd. on October 7, a vessel carrying 168,000 tonnes of Guinean imported bauxite successfully berthed at Fangchenggang Port on October 1, efficiently completing the entire chain of berthing and discharge, storage, and railway outbound transport. The first batch of cargo was shipped by rail to Wanzhou, Chongqing, on October 3, effectively ensuring a stable supply of raw materials for Bosai Minerals' Wanzhou production base. This newly established Guinean bauxite logistics route innovatively creates a rail-sea intermodal model of "overseas mine – entry via Beibu Gulf Port – direct rail to Chongqing." Compared with the traditional Yangtze River sea-river intermodal route, the overall transit time is shortened by about 25 days.

【SMM Aluminum Flash News】Speira Invests €40 Million in German Recycling Expansion, Adding 60,000 mt/year Capacity
German aluminum producer Speira has commissioned a new recycling furnace at its Rheinwerk facility in Grevenbroich on October 9, completing a €40 million (US$44.75 million) investment. The new furnace adds approximately 60,000 mt/year of aluminum recycling capacity, primarily supporting the beverage can market. The investment also includes upgrades to an existing casting line and an additional 6,500 mt of used beverage can (UBC) scrap storage capacity. The furnace is also hydrogen-ready for future energy transition. Speira said growing demand for recycled aluminum packaging from beverage producers, including Red Bull, is supporting its expansion, which will strengthen Europe’s closed-loop aluminum recycling capacity and reduce reliance on primary aluminum.
