[SMM News] Premier African Minerals Raises £1.2m to Restart Zulu Lithium Plant in Zimbabwe

Published: Oct 09, 2026 19:22 (GMT+8)

Premier African Minerals has completed a subscription raising about £1.2 million before expenses through the issue of 27.52 billion new ordinary shares at 0.00436 pence per share. Net proceeds will provide working capital for the planned restart of operations at the Zulu Lithium in Zimbabwe, including the potential remobilization of mining and the restart of the processing plant to resume spodumene concentrate production.

Supply: The company targets an initial operating campaign of about 15 days to assess throughput, recoveries, plant stability, and product quality. About 13,000 mt of ore is available on the ROM pad for this campaign. Personnel, diesel, reagents, and other consumables are being mobilized, and supplier engineers are expected on site to support the spodumene flotation plant. The company will review the campaign results and then determine the next phase. Subject to satisfactory plant performance and working capital, additional blasted ore within its Exclusive Prospecting Order (EPO) may be moved to the ROM pad to support continued processing.

Solid-State Battery Next Decade Series, Part 9 of 9: A Brand-New Track, Not a "Simple Sequel" to Liquid Lithium Batteries [SMM Analysis]
[SMM Analysis: Solid-State Battery Next Decade Series, 9 of 9: A Brand-New Track, Not a "Simple Sequel" to Liquid Lithium Batteries] The industrialisation of solid-state batteries is not a "capacity replication + minor technical adjustment" of liquid lithium batteries, but a systematic shift from resource logic, chemical logic, and material logic to patent logic. The most common mistake in understanding solid-state batteries through the framework of liquid lithium batteries is treating "planned capacity" as "effective supply," treating "technical routes" as "settled answers," and treating "first-mover advantage" as "ultimate victory.

[SMM News] Sinomine’s Bikita to Lift Annual Spodumene Processing Capacity 50% to 3 million mt by Q2 2027
Sinomine’s Bikita Minerals in Zimbabwe plans to raise its annual spodumene processing capacity from about 2 million mt to 3 million mt by Q2 2027, a 50% increase. Sinomine has invested over $320 million in spodumene and petalite beneficiation at Bikita, and total investment is expected to reach about $900 million by the end of 2027. A lithium sulphate plant is scheduled for completion in July 2027. It will let Bikita process lithium concentrate into lithium sulphate, an intermediate product used to make battery materials. Bikita’s lithium-bearing mineral resources have grown from about 29 million mt to over 218 million mt since Sinomine’s acquisition, extending projected mine life by more than 15 years.
