[September Heavy-duty Truck Sales Up 10% MoM]
In January-September this year, cumulative sales of China's heavy-duty truck industry reached approximately 926,000 units, up about 13% YoY, with the cumulative growth rate further slowing down. The MoM increase in wholesale sales of the heavy-duty truck market in September was mainly due to seasonal changes, as transport demand improved compared with the off-season months of July-August, leading to a certain MoM increase in car purchase demand. However, the YoY decline stemmed from the interplay of multiple unfavourable factors: sluggish domestic freight demand, falling freight rates, overdrawn demand due to policies and regulations, industry destocking, a high sales base in the same period last year, and rising oil and gas prices.

[ EUROFER Reports 18% Decline in EU Long Product Imports for H1 2026 ]
The European Steel Association (EUROFER) published finalized trade data on October 5, 2026, revealing that total EU imports of finished steel products fell by 3% year-on-year in the first half of 2026. The decline was heavily concentrated in the long products segment, which crashed by 18% overall—including a 23% plunge in rebar, a 21% drop in wire rod, and a staggering 47% collapse in heavy section imports. The volumetric decline highlights persistently weak apparent steel consumption across the bloc's construction sector, artificially shielding local mills from excess global supply. [SMM Iron Ore]
