[SMM PV Flash] Australian 300 MW Solar-plus-Storage Project Receives Amended Planning Consent

Lightsource bp has received an amended planning permit for the West Mokoan solar-plus-storage project in Victoria, combining two previously approved sites into a single development. The project is planned at 300 MWac/388 MWdc of solar with 140 MW of battery storage and a connection to the 220 kV Benalla Terminal Station. Procurement and early works are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, with full site mobilisation expected in the first quarter of 2027 and completion targeted for May 2029.

【SMM Analysis】Ethiopia Becomes Largest Source of US-Bound Solar Cell Flows, but July Volume Plunges

The origin mix of solar cell flows into the US shifted sharply in 2026. SMM analysis of global solar cell trade-flow data shows that approximately 37.32 GW of cells moved into the US market in January–July. Ethiopia supplied about 21.55 GW, or 57.8% of the total, far exceeding China, Kenya, South Korea and Thailand. On a cumulative basis, Ethiopia was therefore the largest origin in this dataset.
