German steelmaker Salzgitter AG successfully ramped up a new hot straightening machine at its Salzgitter Mannesmann Grobblech facility in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The 1,100-tonne equipment, engineered by Buma Engineering, represents a double-digit million-euro capital investment and one of the plant's largest single upgrades in two decades. The new infrastructure enables the rolling of thick, high-strength steel plates specifically optimized for the foundations and supporting structures of offshore wind energy turbines.

Turkish electric arc furnace operator Ekinciler Demir ve Çelik Sanayi announced it exported $25.42 million worth of semi-finished steel billets in August 2026. The monthly volume represents the company's highest recorded billing shipment value in recent periods. Bolstered by strong international demand, the August performance pushed Ekinciler's total cumulative billet shipment value to $117.27 million for the first eight months of the year.
