Panoro Intersects 808.2m of Copper-Gold Mineralisation at Peru’s Cotabambas Project

Published: Sep 07, 2026 15:28 (GMT+8)

Panoro Minerals has reported new assay results from its Cotabambas copper-gold-silver project in southern Peru, with drill hole CB-230 intersecting 808.15 metres grading 0.22% copper, 0.10 g/t gold and 1.53 g/t silver, equivalent to 0.31% CuEq using Panoro’s stated metal-price and metallurgical-recovery assumptions. The interval was encountered from 296.35 metres to 1,104.50 metres downhole.

Within the broader mineralised interval, CB-230 returned 240.15 metres grading 0.32% copper, including 156.50 metres at 0.38% copper and a higher-grade 48.10-metre interval at 0.57% copper, 0.25 g/t gold and 4.08 g/t silver. Drill hole CB-229 separately intersected 303.30 metres at 0.14% copper, including 69.90 metres at 0.27% copper.

Panoro said the latest drilling, together with previously reported hole CB-228, indicates continuity of the higher-grade mineralisation across approximately 600 metres of strike and from surface to more than 1,100 metres depth. Mineralisation remains open, and additional holes CB-231, CB-232 and CB-233 have commenced to test further extensions around and below the South Pit.

The latest results strengthen Panoro’s geological case for expanding the higher-grade component of the Cotabambas resource, particularly as drilling has yet to define the limits of mineralisation around the South Pit. Cotabambas currently hosts 507.3 Mt of indicated resources and 496.0 Mt of inferred resources, with a higher-grade component of 129.0 Mt indicated and 93.1 Mt inferred. However, the project remains in the exploration and development stage, meaning the new intersections have no immediate impact on copper supply and will need to be incorporated into future resource modelling and technical studies before their economic significance can be assessed.

Trump Considers Immediate Action Against Iran, Contradicting Earlier Stance
At a White House press conference, when Trump was asked why he would delay action against Iran until after the midterm elections rather than act immediately, Trump said it was “possible” to act immediately. Earlier on Thursday, Trump had just made clear that the US “will not attack Iran before the midterm elections,” and said the current negotiations with Iran were “productive.”

Middle East Tensions Drive Global Tanker Rates to Record Highs Amid Inflation Fears
The deteriorating situation in the Middle East is transmitting to the global economy through the energy shipping market. This week, international tanker freight rates climbed to historic peaks as the scale of exchanges of fire between the US and Iran expanded, intensifying market concerns about resurgent inflationary pressure.According to data from the Baltic Exchange, freight rates for very large crude carriers (VLCCs) from the Gulf of Oman to China surged this week to around 450 on the Worldscale, or 4.5 times the normal benchmark rate, equivalent to about $11.5 per barrel, setting the highest record since the route was opened.

Iran Attacks LPG Carrier in Hormuz, Houthi Mines Threaten Bab el-Mandeb, Energy Routes Under Pressure
Iran attacked an LPG carrier in the Strait of Hormuz, and Houthi forces laid mines in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, putting the world’s two critical energy shipping corridors under pressure simultaneously.According to Xinhua News Agency, the navy of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a statement on the 9th that future actions against violating vessels will not be limited to the Strait of Hormuz. Any ship navigating through unauthorized routes without permission will face “severe punishment.”The statement said that in the past few hours, the navy struck a “large” vessel carrying liquefied petroleum gas that attempted to cross the strait via an “illegal” route.
