Lead-acid Battery Market Gradually Enters Peak Season, Weekly Operating Rate Stable with Slight Increase [SMM Lead-acid Battery Weekly Operating Comment]

Published: Sep 4, 2026 16:26

According to SMM data, during August 28–September 3, 2026, the weekly comprehensive operating rate of lead-acid battery producers across five provinces was 69.64%, up 2.22 percentage points WoW.

Entering September, the lead-acid battery market has gradually moved into the traditional peak consumption season. Combined with sales promotions implemented by multiple branded battery enterprises in August, battery inventory shifted to dealers, and some producers reported that finished product orders and production conditions both improved steadily, driving the weekly operating rate of lead-acid battery enterprises to continue its uptrend. However, it is worth noting that the improvement in end-use consumption in the e-bike and automotive battery markets remains limited, dealer inventory levels are relatively high, and sales promotions in battery wholesale markets are still ongoing in some regions, with overall peak-season performance weaker than in previous years. The room for further improvement in lead-acid battery enterprise operating rates is expected to be limited going forward.
