World's First LDES Industrial Park Launches in Heze, Aiming for 30GWh Cells & 20GWh Systems

Published: Aug 28, 2026 16:44
On August 7, the first products rolled off the line at the world's first integrated industrial park dedicated to long-duration energy storage (LDES), located in the Luxi New Area of Heze, Shandong, developed by a leading Chinese storage battery maker. With a total planned investment exceeding RMB 13 billion across the full chain and a site of roughly 1,200 mu, the park spans LFP storage cell manufacturing, module and system integration, new materials and upstream raw materials, targeting 30GWh of 1175Ah LDES cells and 20GWh of 6.25MWh systems at full capacity — over 70% earmarked for overseas markets. Equipped with the company's Gen-5 smart production lines, the site is the industry's first to break 15GWh per line, cutting per-GWh investment by 32%, labor input by 58% and manufacturing energy by 13%, while doubling production efficiency versus its Gen-4 plants. The debut 1175Ah cell offers over 11,000 cycles and energy density above 180Wh/kg, covering 4–8 hour LDES scenarios; the company's order book is already filled through 2027.

【Maoming Sodium/Lithium Anode Project Awaits EIA Approval: 2,000t Na-ion + 2,000t Li-ion 】
On August 21, the Maoming (Guangdong) ecology and environment bureau published a proposed-approval notice (comment period August 21–28) for a carbon materials project by a local company: 50,000 tpa of liquid-crystal high-carbon materials, 2,000 tpa of sodium-ion battery anode material, 2,000 tpa of lithium-ion battery anode material and 1,000 tpa of super microporous carbon. Located in the Jinshan Economic Development Zone of Gaozhou, the project converts a dismantled fuel-oil tank farm into new production workshops, using ethylene tar, catalytic slurry and medium-temperature pitch as feedstock, with extraction-separation, thermal polycondensation, milling-granulation and carbonization units. The repurposing of oil-storage land into sodium/lithium anode carbon capacity adds another scale supply point to the sodium-ion battery anode segment.

On August 18, the second-round public consultation was published for the Phase-II lithium battery anode project of a Hebei-based new energy materials company (comment period August 18–31). Sited in the Lingang Park of the Hebei Fengnan Economic Development Zone, the project adds a 60,000 tpa integrated anode production line equipped with crushers, mills, granulation reactors, pre-graphitization and graphitization furnaces, fully automated sieving and de-magnetizing systems and vacuum packaging, targeting 60,000 tpa of artificial graphite anode material. The integrated layout (with in-house graphitization) helps dilute electricity costs per tonne and strengthens cost competitiveness in the anode segment.

On August 14, the Huizhou (Guangdong) ecology and environment bureau published a notice confirming it had accepted, on August 13, the EIA documents for an 80,000 tpa lithium battery anode materials expansion project, with a ten-working-day public comment period. Located in Zhenlong Town, Huiyang District, and developed by the local subsidiary of a leading Chinese anode materials producer, the project was submitted as a full EIA report. If approved, the expansion would further consolidate the Pearl River Delta's anode capacity cluster.
