Today, China's distributed prices remained stable. After edging down earlier, the sentiment among module enterprises to further cut prices and offer concessions faded. Top-tier producers kept prices stable for about two weeks. Specialized module enterprises gained some cost support from previously rising solar cell prices, narrowing the price decline. Currently, mainstream transaction prices in China remained at 0.71-0.72 yuan/W.

[Energy Storage: Saudi Arabia's SPPC finalizes 2 GW/8 GWh battery storage portfolio worth over $1.16 billion]

Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has finalized four 15-year Storage Services Agreements covering a combined 2 GW/8 GWh of utility-scale battery storage, marking the first phase of the Kingdom's large-scale BESS programme. The four projects, each rated at 500 MW/2,000 MWh under a build-own-operate model, represent an investment of more than $1.16 billion. Three projects (Al Muwyah, Haden and Al Kahafa) went to a consortium of Saudi Energy, ACWA Power and Al Sharif, while the fourth, Al Khushaybi, was awarded to a consortium of France's Engie and Haji Abdullah Alireza & Co. Saudi Arabia targets 48 GWh of storage by 2030, with this portfolio representing about one-sixth of that goal.

[Solar: Plug-in solar panels go on sale in the UK for the first time]

Following a UK government rule change, plug-in solar panels became legally available at retail from August 27, with Argos the first retailer to stock them and Amazon, Currys, B&Q and others expected to follow. The panels can be hung on balconies or fences and plugged directly into wall sockets, with output capped at 800 watts — enough to cover up to 20% of an average home's daytime electricity use and save up to £110 a year on bills. One-panel kits currently cost around £699, with the government expecting prices to settle at £400-600 as competition grows. Already popular in Germany and Spain, the systems mainly target renters and flat dwellers unable to install rooftop solar.
