SMM August 12 News:
The prices of titanium concentrates (TiO2 ≥46%) held steady at 1,250-1,300 yuan/mt today, those of titanium concentrates (TiO2 ≥47%) held steady at 1,450-1,500 yuan/mt, and the average price of imported titanium concentrates (Mozambique, TiO2 ≥46%) settled at 1,420-1,450 yuan/mt. Titanium dioxide prices remained in the doldrums overall.
Today, the titanium market continued to be in the doldrums. In the titanium concentrates sector, major producing areas maintained normal output, and with concentrated arrivals of imported ore, current inventory levels were high. Market supply was ample overall, but demand follow-up was insufficient, and downstream inquiries pushed for lower prices noticeably. Sponge titanium quotations held steady, with producers showing strong wait-and-see sentiment. The titanium dioxide market was in the doldrums, with actual transactions mainly negotiated on a case-by-case basis. End-users only made just-in-time procurement, resulting in sluggish trading. In summary, the pattern of strong supply and weak demand has not been significantly reversed yet, and the weak market trend is expected to persist in the short term.
