[SMM Rare Earth Daily Review: Trading Sluggish Near Weekend, Rare Earth Prices Hold Steady] Overall, as the weekend approaches, downstream inquiry enthusiasm is low, and the trading atmosphere in the rare earth market is sluggish. However, suppliers' quotations remain relatively firm, and rare earth prices are generally stable. The stalemate in the tug-of-war between upstream and downstream persists. In the short term, influenced by the market's tug-of-war stalemate, Pr-Nd product prices may maintain a sideways movement pattern.

SMM, August 7: The rare earth market remained stable overall on the day. Specifically, in the oxide market, the price of Pr-Nd oxide was flat, dysprosium oxide was flat, terbium oxide dropped by 25,000 yuan/mt, gadolinium oxide was flat, holmium oxide dropped by 1,500 yuan/mt, and erbium oxide dropped by 5,000 yuan/mt.

In the metal market, Pr-Nd alloy, dysprosium-iron alloy, terbium metal, gadolinium-iron alloy, holmium-iron alloy, and lanthanum-cerium metal (alloy grade) all remained flat.

The rare earth market moved steadily overall. Focusing on the Pr-Nd market, inquiry activity was thin ahead of the weekend, but oxide suppliers showed little willingness to sell at low prices, quotes held firm, and the price of Pr-Nd oxide saw no notable adjustment. The metal market also remained steady; supported by oxide costs, metal enterprises displayed a strong inclination to hold prices firm. However, inquiry prices from downstream magnetic material enterprises stayed persistently low, leaving the market in a trading stalemate.

In the medium-heavy rare earth market, inquiries also remained sparse. Due to lackluster trading, some suppliers of terbium oxide and holmium oxide actively cut prices to sell, leading to slight price weakness. Quotes for other products stayed relatively firm, with an overall steady trend. Broadly, with limited downstream buying interest heading into the weekend, the rare earth market saw sluggish trading sentiment, but relatively firm supplier quotes kept prices broadly stable, while the upstream-downstream tug-of-war stalemate persisted. In the near term, Pr-Nd product prices are expected to continue moving sideways within a narrow range, weighed by the ongoing trading stalemate.

[SMM Rare Earth Daily Review: Pr-Nd Quotations Raised in the Rare Earth Market, Trading at a Stalemate with Strong Wait-and-See Sentiment] Overall, the rare earth market has entered a phase of differentiated adjustments, with price trends and market trading activity diverging in tandem. Pr-Nd quotations were raised, but downstream inquiries and purchases remained cautious, with limited actual transaction volume, leaving the buy-sell stalemate unbroken. Within medium-heavy rare earths, trading also showed divergence, as dysprosium and terbium metals saw slight price concessions to facilitate shipments amid resistance to high-priced deals, with an overall strong wait-and-see atmosphere in the market. In the short term, the price trend of Pr-Nd products still needs to be observed in light of market trading conditions, but with upstream willingness to hold prices firm strengthening, prices may drift higher.
