[SMM Titanium Spot Flash Report: Leading Producer's Price Adjustment Impacts Market, Downward Trend May Accelerate] SMM, July 29: The titanium dioxide market showed a downward trend today. The leading producer's price adjustment affected market sentiment. The supply-demand pattern remained difficult to change for the time being, and it may continue to remain under pressure.

SMM, July 29:

Today, rutile titanium dioxide closed at 13,600-15,600 yuan/mt, down 650 yuan/mt from the previous trading day.

Affected by the leading enterprise’s proactive price reduction, market trading sentiment weakened, and quoted prices continued to decline. Supply side, although some enterprises suspended or cut production in July, the overall supply impact was limited, and most enterprises maintained full production, with the production-sales imbalance causing inventory pressure to continue accumulating. Demand side, the coatings market was in its production off-season, and seasonal factors continued to constrain prices. In the short term, the supply-demand pattern has not yet improved, and the pace of decline is expected to accelerate, influenced by mainstream enterprises’ price adjustment sentiment.

Chinese Titanium Suppliers Eye Global Aerospace Markets
[SMM Express] Chinese titanium suppliers are expanding their focus towards international aerospace markets as global demand for the critical metal remains supported by aircraft manufacturing growth and supply chain constraints. Several Chinese companies showcased titanium sponge, ingots and other advanced materials at the Farnborough International Airshow in July 2026, seeking to strengthen relationships with overseas aerospace customers. Titanium is widely used in aerospace applications due to its high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance and ability to withstand extreme conditions. The metal is essential for aircraft components including airframes, landing gear and jet engine parts. The global titanium supply chain has faced disruptions in recent years, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, sanctions affecting Russian supply and trade restrictions on Chinese materials. These factors have increased interest in alternative suppliers as aerospace manufacturers seek greater supply chain resilience. China remains one of the world’s leading titanium producers, with a growing domestic aerospace sector supported by companies such as COMAC. However, intense competition within the domestic market is encouraging Chinese suppliers to pursue export opportunities, particularly in Europe and other regions where aerospace-grade titanium supply remains constrained.
