Central China Market Sluggish, Trading Limited Amid Off-Season Demand Weakness

Published: Jul 28, 2026 10:09
Trading sentiment in the central China market remained sluggish today. The night session rebounded, and downstream processing enterprises held a wait-and-see attitude. Off-season demand weakness, coupled with safety inspection restrictions, left downstream factories with low willingness to purchase, with only some traders restocking in small volumes. Purchases by some traders with insufficient quotas for invoices dated this month boosted prices for those cargoes, but overall trading volume was limited. Ultimately, actual transaction prices in the central China market hovered around a discount of 90-110 yuan/mt against the SHFE aluminum August contract.

Yunnan Aluminum's AI Project for Smart Aluminum Electrolysis Selected by Ministry for 2025 Applications
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology unveiled the list of selected typical cases for artificial intelligence applications in 2025. Yunnan Aluminum’s “Green Aluminum Yunhui Jian: AI-Empowered Decision-Making and Intelligent Control Application for Aluminum Electrolysis” was honored on the list. The Green Aluminum Yunhui Jian project closely focused on the core stages of aluminum production, achieving three major core applications: visualization of abnormalities in the furnace cavity shape, analysis and evaluation of cell condition curve anomalies, and process regulation of operating conditions. By deeply integrating AI models with the process control system, the project significantly improved the accuracy of cell condition identification, the foresight of risk judgment, and the capability for coordinated parameter regulation. This transformation has driven the shift in management and control mode from a reliance on expert experience to data- and model-driven assisted decision-making, effectively enhancing the operational stability of electrolytic cells and improving energy conservation and consumption reduction. Looking ahead, Yunnan Aluminum will further deepen the integrated innovation of artificial intelligence across the entire aluminum electrolysis production process and accelerate the promotion and application of mature technologies across multiple production sites.
