China's Northwest Secondary Lead Smelter Halts Production, Awaits Market Improvement for Restart

[Tender Information for Lead-Acid Battery] Recently, China Mobile Procurement and Bidding Website released the tender announcement for the concentrated procurement of lead-acid battery products, 2027-2028. The procurement includes approximately 1.5526 billion Ah of 2V and 12V Class I lead-acid batteries, and approximately 5.4853 billion W of 2V and 12V high-power lead-acid batteries. A maximum bid price limit will be set for the project, with the final maximum price limit amount subject to linked adjustments based on the benchmark average lead price of SMM for the calendar month preceding the bid (i.e., the SMM #1 lead ingot monthly average price).

[Lead Smelter Updates] It is learned that a medium-sized primary lead smelter in north-east China plans to enter routine maintenance from tomorrow. The maintenance will last one month, during which its primary lead electrolysis line will be completely shut down, affecting lead production by approximately 9,000 mt.
