[ADC12 Price Daily Review: Aluminum Alloy Futures Move Sideways, ADC12 Spot Supply and Demand in Stalemate] Today, ADC12 market quotations remained stable overall. Cost side, compliant aluminum scrap supply remained tight, procurement costs stayed high, supporting ADC12 prices; demand side, as the traditional off-season deepened further, some downstream enterprises successively entered high-temperature holidays, and order shrinkage led to procurement enthusiasm weakening further.

Futures: The aluminum alloy 2609 contract opened at 22,875 yuan/mt today. In early trading, the price bottomed out, and after a brief dip, it consolidated higher, with the daily center consistently moving above the average price line. During the session, bulls strengthened efforts to push up the price, which pulled back slightly near midday, eventually closing at 22,975 yuan/mt at midday. On the chart, open interest pulled back somewhat, and the short-term Stochastic indicator recovered, but resistance above remained evident. Overall, the futures price maintained its sideways movement pattern, with intense tug-of-war between longs and shorts.

Spot: ADC12 market quotations remained generally stable today. Cost side, compliant aluminum scrap supply remained tight, and procurement costs stayed high, providing support for ADC12 prices. Demand side, as the traditional off-season deepens, some downstream enterprises are gradually entering their high-temperature holidays, and declining orders have further weakened procurement willingness. Against the backdrop of cost support wrestling with weak demand, the market lacks new catalysts, and most enterprises choose to maintain stable quotations, waiting to see aluminum price trends and end-user order performance. The ADC12 market is expected to remain in a narrow consolidation and wait-and-see pattern in the short term.

Imports: Outside China, ADC12 quotations ranged $3,050-3,160/mt. Due to yuan strengthening, the immediate import loss per ton narrowed again to 832 yuan.

[SMM Chromium Flash] Tharisa's Underground Transition at Its Chrome-PGM Flagship Mine Remains on Track
Tharisa confirmed its transition to underground mining at its flagship Tharisa Mine, on the southwestern limb of South Africa's Bushveld Complex, remains on time and within budget, running in parallel with the Karo Platinum Project's construction financing in Zimbabwe. Development of the Apollo underground complex, which commenced in March 2026, is progressing toward first run-of-mine ore in the current quarter, with steady-state production of 255,000 mt per month targeted by the third quarter of calendar year 2029. The Orion complex is expected to follow, targeting first ore in financial year 2031 and steady-state production by the third quarter of calendar year 2033. Together, Tharisa said the two underground complexes are expected to extend mining at the Tharisa Mine, which co-produces chrome concentrate alongside PGMs from the same orebody, for more than 60 years beyond depletion of the current open pit. The underground project is fully funded through development loans from Absa and Standard Bank and an asset-based revolving facility from Nedbank, funding that sits separately from the US$300 million Nordic bond raised this week for Karo. The company did not break out what share of Apollo or Orion's future run-of-mine ore output will be chrome-bearing material versus PGM-bearing material, leaving the underground transition's specific impact on Tharisa's chrome concentrate volumes still to be clarified as the two complexes ramp up toward steady state.
