Recently, the General Office of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Government issued the “Work Plan for Accelerating the Industrialisation and Application of New Energy Vehicles in Sichuan,” explicitly proposing to grant expressway toll discounts to eligible hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks , thereby further reducing operating costs for hydrogen transport vehicles and accelerating the adoption of hydrogen vehicles in the transportation sector.
According to the plan, from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026, Sichuan Province will implement a toll discount policy for hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks equipped with ETC and operating normally on expressways. Eligible vehicles traveling on expressways within Sichuan Province can receive a **20% toll reduction** in line with relevant regulations.
This policy focuses on promoting the use of new energy commercial vehicles such as hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks, improving the operational economics of hydrogen transport vehicles by lowering their expressway toll costs. At the same time, Sichuan will continue to enhance relevant infrastructure and the application environment around the industrialisation of hydrogen vehicles, accelerating the large-scale deployment of hydrogen transportation.
In terms of policy deployment, Sichuan will further advance the demonstration application of hydrogen vehicles, encourage the expanded use of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in logistics and transportation scenarios, and reduce the cost pressure in the promotion of hydrogen vehicles through coordinated fiscal, transportation, and industrial policies.
The implementation of this expressway toll discount policy helps to lower the actual operating costs of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks and boost enthusiasm for using such vehicles , while also creating a more favorable policy environment for scaling up applications in Sichuan’s hydrogen transportation industry. This is of positive significance in driving the green and low-carbon transformation of the transportation sector.
