Central China Market Sees Sluggish Trading, Prices Hold Firm Amid Low Downstream Demand

Published: Jul 22, 2026 10:09
As the off-season deepened, overall trading sentiment in the central China market was predominantly sluggish. Downstream processing enterprises exhibited low purchase willingness, and only a few large plants, constrained by the volumes of long-term contracts, made small-scale just-in-time procurement. Suppliers showed high willingness to sell, and some traders, due to restrictions on accepting high premiums, fueled strong sentiment among major players to hold prices firm. Ultimately, actual transaction prices in the central China market were in the range of a premium of -110 to -140 yuan/mt against the SHFE aluminum August contract.
