[SMM Aluminum Flash News] Indian Downstream Aluminium Industry Urges Cut in Primary Aluminium Import Duty

Published: Jul 20, 2026 11:51
The Federation of All India Aluminum Utensils Manufacturers (FAIAUM) and the Cable and Conductor Manufacturers Association of India (CACMAI) have urged the government to reduce the effective 8.25% import duty on primary aluminum. The industry said high tariffs have significantly increased raw material costs, squeezed downstream manufacturers' margins and weakened the competitiveness of MSMEs producing aluminum value-added products.
