NEV Market Slumps in June, Auto Exports Surge; Policy Support Wanes, Impacting Retail Sales Growth

Published: Jul 12, 2026 16:46
CPCA branch secretary-general Cui Dongshu pointed out in an article that the new energy vehicle market performed poorly in June, while the auto export market continued to maintain strong growth. Meanwhile, producer inventories saw a slight reduction, and the industry did not experience inventory buildup. Due to the unprecedented strength of consumption policies last year, policy support has clearly contracted entering 2026, especially a significant reduction in entry-level consumption support policies, which directly led to the continued negative growth of the passenger car retail market from January to June this year. However, thanks to the increase in exports, the growth rate of producer sales in June remained relatively stable.
