[SMM Daily Review: January 21 Spot Lithium Carbonate Prices Fluctuate Upward]
The SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate index price was 159,635 yuan/mt, up 5,536 yuan/mt MoM. SMM Battery-grade lithium carbonate was priced at 155,000–162,000 yuan/mt, with an average price of 158,500 yuan/mt, up 6,000 yuan/mt MoM. SMM Industrial-grade lithium carbonate was priced at 152,000–158,000 yuan/mt, with an average price of 155,000 yuan/mt, up 6,000 yuan/mt MoM.

Today, the most-traded lithium carbonate futures contract continued to fluctuate upward, with an increase of 7.25%, fluctuating between 158,200 yuan/mt and 168,900 yuan/mt during the session. From the perspective of actual market transactions, as prices continued to rise, spot order quotations and willingness to sell from some lithium chemical plants increased. Downstream material plants mainly conducted spot order purchases for rigid demand and February stockpiling, keeping overall market inquiries and transactions active.
