On December 29, 2025, the 6,300 m³ LPG/liquid ammonia transport vessel "Antaiyuan", which underwent plan review and construction survey by China Classification Society (CCS), was named and delivered in Dalian. Xing Fanhui, Secretary of the Party Committee of CCS Dalian Branch, attended the ceremony. As the last newly built vessel delivered by the Dalian Branch in 2025, it marked a successful conclusion to the construction survey work for the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.
The "Antaiyuan" has an overall length of 110 meters and is the first LPG/liquid ammonia transport vessel in the COSCO Shipping Group fleet, filling a gap in the fleet's specialized transport capabilities. Its core advantages are prominent, with excellent cargo adaptability. Equipped with multiple independent liquid cargo tanks, it can carry more than 10 types of liquefied gases, including anhydrous ammonia, LPG, and butadiene, and possesses the capability for both domestic and international trading. Its environmental performance leads the industry; main and auxiliary engine emissions meet the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III standards and EEDI Phase III energy efficiency requirements. It also incorporates an ammonia-fuel-ready design, laying the foundation for future upgrades to zero-carbon power. The vessel is equipped with energy-saving systems such as a shaft generator and seawater pump frequency converters, which can significantly reduce energy consumption and operating costs, achieving a balance between green, low-carbon operation and economic efficiency.
During the construction survey process, the CCS team advanced the work with high standards, summarizing experience from previous ethylene carrier surveys. They collaborated closely with the shipowner and shipyard, optimized the survey model, and provided comprehensive support. Ultimately, the vessel was delivered with high quality three months ahead of schedule, with its core indicators surpassing the design standards, receiving high recognition from all parties.
The successful delivery of the "Antaiyuan" marks a further enhancement of China's technical capabilities in the construction and survey of high-end gas carriers. In the next step, CCS will continue to strengthen its survey service capabilities for gas carriers, implement the national "dual carbon" strategy, promote technological innovation in green shipping, and provide strong support for the upgrading of China's energy transport industry and the high-quality development of the shipping industry.
