MG Motor, a brand under China’s state-owned automaker SAIC Motor (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation), has begun delivering the MG4 model equipped with a semi-solid-state battery in China.
SAIC MG stated that the quasi-solid-state battery, which reduces the proportion of liquid electrolyte to 5%, significantly lowers the risk of combustion while improving battery lifecycle performance. In a recent nail penetration test, the battery showed no signs of smoke, fire, or explosion for two hours, demonstrating a safety level 20% higher than that of conventional batteries.
