France’s certification body, Certisolis, has revoked the eligibility of four DMEGC solar modules for the country’s reduced 5.5% VAT rate (down from the standard 20%). The reduced rate is exclusively reserved for modules with a low carbon footprint (less than 530 kg CO2/kWp). Certisolis cited an error in the component traceability documents provided by DMEGC—the first such revocation in over 6,000 application reviews.
DMEGC has acknowledged the error and taken immediate damage control measures, including withdrawing unsold affected stock and informing clients that these products will now be subject to the standard 20% VAT. The manufacturer has pledged to reimburse the VAT difference for modules already installed and intends to resubmit a corrected application. Currently, only modules from Voltec and JinkoSolar remain eligible for the reduced VAT incentive.
