Cobalt Chloride: Market Trading Activity Continues to Recover

Published: Dec 4, 2025 17:23

This week, domestic cobalt chloride market activity continued to improve. Supply side, the tight supply of raw materials further intensified, strongly supporting producers to maintain high quotations, with mainstream offers stabilizing above 110,000 yuan/mt; recycling side quotations followed suit with increases, concentrated in the range of 103,000-108,000 yuan/mt. Demand side, performance remained steadily positive, with demand from Co3O4 and production schedules still maintained at high levels, recent purchases of cobalt chloride were at mainstream prices of 105,000 yuan/mt. Considering factors from both supply and demand sides, cobalt chloride prices have some upward momentum in the short term, but the overall upside potential is relatively limited.

Cost Push or Supply-Demand Restructuring?—The Real Logic Behind Iron Phosphate Price Increases in April
Iron phosphate negotiations in April were deadlocked, with offers hitting 13,000 yuan/mt. The price surge appeared raw-material driven, but in fact reflected pricing power shifting upstream after a reversal in supply-demand fundamentals. Downstream buyers cited “cost increases” to push back, yet conveniently forgot the upstream losses quietly absorbed over the past three years. This was never about simple cost pass-through—it was a restructuring of profit distribution across the chain.

With raw material prices rising, some projects were in a wait-and-see stage, but the demand should still exist and would only be deferred. The company will strive based on the upper end of market growth, hoping to achieve more than 60 Gwh.
