Canadian rare earth producer Ucore Rare Metals has agreed to supply rare earth oxides to the new U.S. plant of German magnet producer Vacuumschmelze (VAC).
On November 3, Ucore announced that it will supply separated rare earth oxides, including neodymium, praseodymium, terbium, dysprosium, samarium, and gadolinium, to VAC and its subsidiary eVAC. Ucore will supply the materials from its planned Louisiana Strategic Metals Complex and its commercial demonstration facility in Ontario to eVAC's magnet manufacturing plant in Sumter County, South Carolina. The two parties will finalise a long-term agreement and commercial terms within nine months. Ucore previously signed an agreement with Australia's Metallium, which may supply rare earth element raw materials for its Louisiana Metals Complex. The company also entered into a non-binding offtake agreement with U.S. mining developer Critical Metals for the annual supply of 10,000 mt of rare earth concentrate.
