On November 24, Chinese Premier Li Qiang delivered a speech at the 20th G20 Summit, emphasizing the strengthening of green energy cooperation to advance a just transition. He noted that China has built the world's largest renewable energy system, and over the past five years, the wind power and PV products it supplied to the world have helped other countries reduce carbon emissions by approximately 4.1 billion mt. China stands ready to continue supporting other countries in their energy transitions.

Green Energy Cooperation Emerges as Key G20 Topic; New Energy Offers Inclusive and Equitable Benefits

In his speech, Li Qiang highlighted that new energy sources such as solar and wind power inherently possess inclusive and equitable characteristics. Promoting the green transformation of the energy system will not only provide strong momentum for human development but also better safeguard the equal development rights of all nations. The G20 should advance global cooperation in the green industry, maintain stable and unimpeded industrial and supply chains, and facilitate the free flow and application of related technologies and products. This initiative focuses on fairness and cooperation in the global energy transition, aligning with the theme of this G20 Summit: "Unity, Equality, Sustainability."

China's Remarkable Achievements in Renewable Energy and Fruitful International Cooperation

As an active practitioner of global energy transition, China has established the world's largest renewable energy system and achieved significant results in international cooperation on green energy. To date, China has engaged in green energy collaboration with over 100 countries and regions. Over the past five years, the wind power and PV products it supplied worldwide have cumulatively helped other countries reduce carbon emissions by approximately 4.1 billion mt, making important contributions to global climate change mitigation and the advancement of a green energy structure.

China Willing to Continue Empowering Global Energy Transition and Addressing Challenges Through Multi-Sector Coordination

Li Qiang stated that China is willing to continue leveraging its capabilities to support other countries in their energy transitions. In addition to green energy cooperation, the speech also put forward several initiatives on ecological and environmental protection, food security, the widespread application and governance of artificial intelligence, cooperation on critical minerals, and empowering development in the Global South. It called on the G20 to uphold the spirit of partnership, unite to build strength, and rely on collaboration to address multiple global challenges such as climate change, energy, and food security, jointly promoting the progress and prosperous development of human civilization.
