[SMM News: US MP to Commence Dysprosium and Terbium Production in 2026] US integrated rare earth producer MP Materials is expected to begin production of heavy rare earth elements, including dysprosium and terbium, by mid-2026. The new rare earth production line will process approximately 3,000 mt of raw material annually and yield over 200 mt of dysprosium and terbium. This capacity is sufficient to fully support MP's plan to produce 10,000 mt of high-performance NdFeB magnets per year. MP also plans to establish a "10X" magnet manufacturing plant, which is expected to commence operations in 2028, with its production fully backed by existing offtake agreements. Additionally, MP has committed to initiating samarium oxide production by 2028 and anticipates gadolinium will be the next element to enter production around the same period.
