On September 7, during the 2025 World Intelligent Industry Expo, Kalley Technology officially launched the "Coleitec HyPVesselTM Dry-Wound Carbon Fiber Type IV 70 MPa Hydrogen Storage Cylinder" in the dedicated release zone of the North Foyer of Chongqing International Expo Center. This product is China's first dry-wound Type IV 70 MPa hydrogen storage cylinder developed using domestically produced carbon fiber and resin-based prepreg yarn, combined with independent and controllable process technology. It marks Kalley Technology's official entry into the hydrogen energy sector, cultivating a new trillion-yuan track.
Wang Zhijie, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, along with representatives from Kalley Technology's partners—Huipai New Materials Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd., France's R.G.I. Company, Northern International Cooperation Co., Ltd., and Shenzhen Huate Container Co., Ltd.—jointly attended the launch event. During the event, Wang Zhijie, Dr. He Peng, Founder and Chairman of Kalley Technology, and Yang Yujing, Chairman of Huipai New Materials, delivered speeches respectively, congratulating the launch of the new product.
Dr. Jiang Weili, Director of the Hydrogen Energy Business Division at Kalley Technology, provided a detailed introduction to the Coleitec HyPVesselTM product. Designed specifically for optimized dry-winding process, the product reduces carbon fiber usage by 20% compared to wet-winding under the same technical conditions, with a winding speed of up to 6 m/s. It features a rotomolded liner with a maximum volume exceeding 400 L, meeting diverse application needs in fields such as hydrogen energy storage, passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and drones. Following the product introduction, Dr. He Peng and the attending guests jointly unveiled the Coleitec HyPVesselTM.
It is reported that since 2020, Kalley Technology's technical team has led and participated in multiple hydrogen storage cylinder projects, achieving Type IV cylinder technology on par with international standards and leading in several aspects domestically. In collaboration with industry chain partners, the company has developed the sealing design and preparation process for Type IV cylinder plastic liners exceeding 400 L, overcoming the "bottleneck" challenge of large-volume hydrogen storage cylinders. Building on its mastery of wet-winding technology, Kalley Technology has become the first enterprise in China to adopt domestically produced prepreg yarn winding process for manufacturing dry-wound Type IV 70 MPa hydrogen storage cylinders. Cylinders produced with this process exhibit more stable quality, double the production efficiency of wet-winding, and a 20% reduction in cost.
Simultaneously, Kalley Technology places great emphasis on cylinder safety control, developing an AI machine learning-based burst prediction classifier for burst pressure forecasting and cylinder health monitoring. Currently, the company has established a globally leading pilot production line for dry-wound Type IV 70 MPa hydrogen storage cylinders in Chongqing, positioning itself as a potential strong competitor in the field of hydrogen storage equipment technology in the future.
