On October 10, Japan time, Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. announced that its high-pressure hydrogen tanks would be used in the large fuel cell trucks launched by Hino Motors in October, providing key component support for the popularization of fuel cell commercial vehicles.
It is reported that commercial vehicles such as straight transport trucks have long daily driving ranges and high requirements for driving range, and the promotion and popularization of fuel cell trucks are expected to meet this demand. Toyoda Gosei continues to contribute to the realization of a hydrogen society by developing and producing hydrogen tanks, a core component of fuel cell vehicles.
From a development background perspective, hydrogen, as a next-generation energy source with zero CO2 emissions during use, is an important path to achieving carbon neutrality. Leveraging its expertise in polymers such as plastic and rubber molding technology, Toyoda Gosei jointly developed with Toyota Motor Corporation a tank that can efficiently store hydrogen under high pressure. Since November 2020, these hydrogen tanks have been produced at Toyoda Gosei's Inabe Plant; in 2023, the company further launched large high-pressure hydrogen tanks, which are now used in small trucks and vessels.
Toyoda Gosei stated that beyond common modes of transportation such as automobiles, motorcycles, vessels, and trains, hydrogen also holds broad application prospects in daily life in the future. The company will continue to contribute to the construction of a hydrogen society by providing tanks that meet hydrogen loading needs and improving hydrogen storage efficiency.
