Hydrogen Tank Explosion at US Louisville Plant Leaves One Dead

It is reported that an explosion at a factory in Louisville, Kentucky, US, on September 21 resulted in one fatality. The explosion occurred at the AAK company on Seventh Street. The Louisville Metro Fire Department is investigating the cause of the hydrogen tank explosion.

WDRB, a Fox affiliate, reported that at 12:39 p.m., fire departments in Louisville and Shively responded to a fire alarm at 2500 Seventh Street. Upon arrival, rescue personnel discovered one person dead from the explosion. Employees of AAK led firefighters to the area where the hydrogen tank exploded, and the fire was contained to the periphery of the building.

The factory's official website indicates that AAK produces vegetable oils and fats. Company officials stated in a declaration, "As a precaution, operations in the relevant section of the plant have been shut down. Safety is AAK's top priority. We are committed to understanding what happened and taking all necessary measures to ensure such an incident does not occur again." They expressed being "deeply saddened" by the explosion and noted that the company is "fully cooperating" with the investigation.
