On November 1, China's first commercially operated 1,000 kg/d ammonia decomposition hydrogen production and refueling integrated station was officially inaugurated and put into operation in Nanhai, Guangdong. This milestone event not only marks a critical leap for China's ammonia-hydrogen energy technology from the laboratory to large-scale, commercial operation, but also achieves a new breakthrough in the full-chain closed-loop operation of the hydrogen energy industry chain, covering production, storage, refueling, and utilization.
The station demonstrates significant advantages in technology and cost: relying on the low-temperature ammonia decomposition hydrogen production complete technology independently developed by Fuda Zijin Hydrogen Energy Technology, the ammonia conversion rate exceeds 99.5% under operating conditions of 480°C. Compared to traditional equipment, it has a smaller volume, lower energy consumption, and features on-site production for immediate use and flexible capacity adjustment. By innovatively adopting the "direct liquid ammonia supply—on-site hydrogen production—instant refueling" model, it completely resolves the transportation cost challenges associated with traditional high-pressure hydrogen storage, reducing costs by 40% to 50% compared to conventional methods, thereby overcoming a core bottleneck for the large-scale application of hydrogen energy.
In terms of practical application, as the largest commercial ammonia-to-hydrogen equipment in China by monomer hydrogen production output, the station can stably produce 1,000 kg of high-purity hydrogen per day, providing continuous refueling services for no fewer than 100 units of 4.5 mt hydrogen fuel cell logistics vehicles. This directly empowers the green logistics transportation system in Nanhai District, strongly supports the large-scale expansion of hydrogen energy transportation capacity in the Foshan region, and provides solid support for deep decarbonization in the transportation sector.
For Nanhai District, this integrated station is a new landmark in its construction as the "Capital of China's Hydrogen Energy Industry." Nanhai has already formed a complete hydrogen energy industry chain. This project, through deep interaction with enterprises such as Huate Gas in Lishui Town and Meijin Hydrogen Energy Industry Headquarters Base, will further strengthen the hydrogen energy industry cluster, assist Lishui Town in building a model zone for synergistic development of the hydrogen energy industry in South China, and provide replicable, scalable practical pathways for the national strategic goals of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality."
