From October 10 to 12, the 2025 SNEC International Energy Storage and Hydrogen Energy Conference grandly opened at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Aerospace Hydrogen Energy (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Aerospace Hydrogen Energy") made a significant appearance with two core hydrogen energy equipment products. The publicly debuted "Hang Yuan" hydrogen fuel cell unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and the hydrogen fuel portable power supply were jointly presented, fully demonstrating the vast application potential of hydrogen energy in diverse scenarios, becoming the focus of the exhibition.
As the star product making its stunning debut, the core power of the "Hang Yuan" hydrogen fuel cell UAV comes from the hydrogen-electric aviation engine independently developed by Aerospace Hydrogen Energy. Deeply integrated with aerospace technology, it achieves multi-dimensional breakthroughs in efficiency, reliability, and safety, redefining the standards for low-altitude operations.
Efficiency Innovation : The system energy density reaches 500-800 Wh/kg, with an endurance of 2 to 5 hours, which is twice that of similar lithium battery UAVs; the refueling process takes only 1 to 4 minutes, increasing operational efficiency by more than three times and significantly reducing downtime.
Reliability Upgrade : It possesses strong environmental adaptability, capable of stable operation within an ultra-wide temperature range of -30°C to 50°C, and can achieve full power output even at high altitudes of 5,000 meters; the system's Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) is as high as 532 hours, far exceeding the industry average, ensuring operational continuity.
Safety and Environmental Protection : The insulation resistance can reach over 50 MΩ, with a protection rating of IP55, and all safety indicators far surpass industry standards; the operation only produces water, achieving zero exhaust emissions, perfectly aligning with the national "Dual Carbon" strategy requirements.
The simultaneously exhibited hydrogen fuel cell portable power supply uses solid-state hydride as the hydrogen source, featuring a compact size and light weight, along with high-efficiency energy conversion capability. Its fuel replenishment is convenient, it has a long endurance, and it can provide stable power support for various types of equipment.
At natural disaster rescue sites, this power supply can be quickly activated to ensure the operation of critical equipment such as communications and medical devices; it also plays an important role in field operations, medical support in remote areas, and other scenarios. Its power generation process only produces water and heat, with no noise pollution or harmful emissions, making it an ideal choice for green emergency energy.
The two products exhibited by Aerospace Hydrogen Energy carry significant strategic importance for promoting the transformation of China's energy structure and ensuring national energy security."The "Hangyuan" UAV will inject efficient power into low-altitude operation scenarios such as power inspection, environmental protection monitoring, and emergency communication, enhancing operational efficiency and coverage; the hydrogen fuel portable power supply will provide green and reliable new solutions for fields including emergency energy, field operations, and mobile healthcare.
The practical application of these products will accelerate the commercialisation of hydrogen energy in various sectors such as transportation, ESS, and emergency response, providing strong support for China's achievement of the "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" goals, while simultaneously showcasing to the world the leading technical level of China's hydrogen energy equipment.
According to the on-site responsible person from Aerospace Hydrogen Energy, the highly anticipated "Hangyuan" hydrogen fuel cell UAV is scheduled for its maiden flight in mid-October in Xiangshan, Zhejiang. This initial flight will focus on application verification in critical areas such as port security and livelihood safeguards, and is expected to become a significant milestone for hydrogen energy applications in low-altitude airspace.
Aerospace Hydrogen Energy, established in May 2020 as the hydrogen energy industrialisation entity initiated by the Shanghai Space Power Sources Research Institute (the sole specialised power supply institute under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation), corely relies on the institute's over 60 years of experience in aerospace power supplies and over 20 years of technological accumulation in fuel cells. It possesses key technologies with independent intellectual property rights, such as fuel cell stacks and metal bipolar plates (having accumulated over 60 patents, more than 100 of which are invention patents), and has built an intelligent factory for hydrogen fuel cells. Its products cover hydrogen-electric composite power supplies, fuel cell systems, and stacks, focusing on both military and civilian markets.
Currently, the company has successfully established a collaborative structure of "Research Institute + National Key Laboratory + Industrial Company," forming a full-chain system from aerospace-grade technology R&D to civilian commercial application. This system not only ensures the high-reliability power supply requirements for aerospace missions but also effectively promotes the large-scale application of hydrogen energy technology.
