Central Sulawesi Governor Anwar Hafid has ordered a temporary halt to PT Nadesico Nickel Industry’s (NNI) coal-fired power plant in the SEI area, citing suspected Lampi River pollution and other violations. DPRD Commission III secretary Muhammad Safri urged firm action, warning of ecological risks. NNI has been granted seven days to restore the environment and build wastewater treatment facilities, while lab tests on river samples are ongoing.
