Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On September 16, 2025, SAIC Audi officially put the fire new AUDI E5 Sportback model onto the market. The car arrives in four trims priced between 235,900 yuan and 319,900 yuan. Built on the Advanced Digitized Platform co-developed by SAIC Motor and Audi, the model is produced at SAIC Audi's AUDI Intelligent Manufacturing Base.
Visually, the AUDI E5 Sportback draws inspiration from the AUDI E concept while incorporating Audi's signature styling cues. The design combines the rounded fenders of the first-generation TT, the clean surfaces of the RSQ concept, and the sporty stance of the RS6. The car features ring-shaped headlights, a closed front grille integrated with lighting modules, and an illuminated AUDI logo beneath the hood line. Both front and rear logos are finished in dark chrome with a 3D floating light design, adding a refined, high-tech touch.
A roof-mounted LiDAR supports the vehicle's advanced driver assistance system, which is powered by Momenta's end-to-end EBM model. The setup includes 27 sensors in total: LiDAR with long-range detection, three millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 11 cameras. Processing power comes from NVIDIA's Orin-X chip, enabling seamless operation across city driving, highways, and automated parking scenarios.
From the side, slightly flared wheel arches emphasize muscularity, while clean body lines create a sleek profile. Flush door handles and digital exterior mirrors, integrating blind spot detection and cross-traffic alerts, reinforce the tech-forward feel. The sloping roofline merges with the Sportback's hatchback design, balancing interior headroom with wagon-like practicality.
At the rear, a full-width taillight bar with vertical elements mirrors the front design. In total, 942 LEDs project nearly 2,000 triangular motifs using micro-laser etching, creating an elaborate dynamic welcome sequence. The car measures 4,881 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,479 mm in height, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase, placing it firmly in the mid-size sedan segment.
Inside, the cabin emphasizes simplicity with premium finishes. A full-width "ultra-wide" display combines the digital instrument cluster, central infotainment, and passenger entertainment screen, while side-mounted displays show feeds from the digital mirrors. Running on the new AUDI OS with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8295 chip, the system integrates a customized in-car assistant based on Volcano Engine's Doubao large language model, offering advanced conversational and vehicle-control functions.
Powertrain choices include four variants: two single-motor versions with outputs of 299 hp (220 kW) and 408 hp (300 kW), and two dual-motor setups delivering 525 hp (386 kW) or a range-topping 787 hp (579 kW).
Battery options vary by trim. The entry-level model uses a 76 kWh LFP pack from CATL-SAIC or CALB, offering 618 km of range. Higher trims employ ternary lithium packs from CATL in 83 kWh and 100 kWh capacities, with ranges of 623 km, 773 km, and 647 km respectively. Fast charging can add over 370 km of range in just ten minutes.
Performance highlights include Audi's quattro intelligent all-wheel-drive system and a 0–100 km/h sprint of 3.4 seconds in top trim. Available chassis technologies include adaptive air suspension with 45 mm ride height adjustment and CDC (continuous damping control) system.
