On August 14, 2025, Tinci Materials (002709) responded to investor inquiries on the investor relations platform, stating that the mainstream technical route currently requires approximately 400 kg of lithium sulphide per ton of sulphide solid-state electrolyte. The company's sulphide-based solid-state electrolyte is in the pilot stage, primarily cooperating with downstream battery customers for material technology validation. The progress of technical validation involves confidentiality agreements with customers.
Tianqi Lithium Co., Ltd. disclosed in an investor relations activity record announcement released on September 2 that, regarding key materials, the company has successfully completed industrialisation preparations for lithium sulphide—a core raw material for next-generation solid-state batteries—and is continuously advancing product quality improvement and cost-reduction technology optimisation. To meet the demand for lithium sulphide from downstream sulphide solid-state electrolytes, the company's pilot project with an annual capacity of 50 mt of lithium sulphide has been substantially implemented and commenced construction in Meishan, Sichuan. This project employs a self-developed new patented technology for high-purity lithium sulphide preparation, which features low risk and rapid mass production capabilities, providing support for subsequent stable supply of lithium sulphide. To date, the company has conducted sampling with over ten downstream customers, receiving positive feedback.
TONZE Lithium Battery released an institutional survey summary on September 4, 2025, stating that the company has completed laboratory trials of various materials compatible with solid-state/semi-solid-state batteries, such as semi-solid-state electrolyte additive lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulphonyl)imide, high-purity lithium sulphide, new-type silicon carbon anode, and single-walled nanotube conductive agent. Meanwhile, the company has decided to adopt a relatively unique liquid-phase process for lithium sulphide preparation. This process has initially completed small-scale validation and is currently preparing a pilot production line with an annual capacity of 2 mt.
On September 8, 2025, South Korea's ISU Specialty Chemical commenced construction for the commercial production of lithium sulphide, a key raw material for sulphide electrolytes in all-solid-state batteries, with an annual capacity of 150 mt. The project investment amounts to approximately 85.2 billion won (435 million yuan), with a designed capacity of 150 mt per year, expandable to a maximum of 500 mt. The downstream market is estimated to be China, Japan, and South Korea.
On September 8, 2025, TONZE issued an abnormal stock trading fluctuation announcement, stating that the company has noted the recent high market attention on the solid-state battery concept. To date, the company's controlled subsidiary, Jiangsu Tailian Material Technology Co., Ltd., has obtained a patent for "A Lithium Sulfide Material and Its Preparation Method and Application." Lithium sulfide is a raw material for producing electrolytes in sulphide solid-state batteries. The company is currently advancing the industrialisation of this patent, with related R&D and testing work proceeding in an orderly manner. Affected by macroeconomic, industry policy, and market environment changes, there are also risks that the project may not meet expectations in terms of industrialisation and commercialisation.
On September 11, 2025, according to information on Wanbang's official website, Sichuan Yunneng Lithium Industry New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. released the first public notice for the environmental impact assessment of its "Annual 200 mt High-Purity Lithium Sulfide Demonstration Line." This announcement was reissued due to a change in the environmental assessment unit.
Ganfeng Lithium announced in its investor relations activity record that in the field of sulphide solid-state battery materials, the company is simultaneously developing two key materials: lithium sulfide and sulphide electrolytes. The company's lithium sulfide product has a main content ≥99.9% and D50≤5μm. With high purity, low impurity content, and excellent consistency, it meets the technical requirements for high-conductivity solid electrolyte materials. It has already passed customer quality certification and is being supplied to multiple downstream customers. At the same time, the company is actively developing more cost-advantaged lithium sulfide preparation processes.
A representative from EVE Energy Co., Ltd. stated that the company has completed the development of Ah-level pouch sulphide solid-state battery samples. A pilot line with a capacity of several hundred megawatt hours is expected to be operational in 2025. The company plans to achieve a breakthrough in the production process of solid-state batteries by 2026, launching a solid-state battery with high power, high environmental tolerance, and absolute safety.
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited increased its R&D investment in sulphide solid-state batteries in 2025, expanding its R&D team to over 1,000 people. Previously, the company had established a 10Ah-level solid-state battery validation platform and recently entered the 20Ah sample trial production phase. According to company sources, there is a high likelihood of small-batch production of sulphide solid-state batteries by 2027.
Yunnan Enjie New Materials Co., Ltd. previously announced that in terms of solid-state battery material layout, its controlled subsidiary, Hunan Enjie Frontier New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., has completed the construction and operation of a small-scale annual production capacity of high-purity lithium sulfide at the ton level. A hundred-ton lithium sulfide pilot line has been set up, and a 10-ton solid electrolyte production line has been put into operation, with the capability to deliver products.
