Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, recently announced a partnership with GEM Limited to develop a nickel project in Indonesia valued at approximately $1.42 billion. The collaboration was officially launched through the signing of a letter of intent, which outlines the framework for potential joint investment in a high-pressure acid leaching (HPAL) smelter. The smelter is expected to produce 66,000 mt of nickel-containing mixed hydroxide annually. The project is anticipated to involve cooperation with PT Vale Indonesia Tbk and other global partners.
