The Daye City Public Resources Trading Platform released the "Tender Notice for Hydrogen Vehicle Procurement in the Integrated Hydrogen Energy Mine Construction Project for Green Electricity and Green Hydrogen Production, Storage, Refueling, and Utilization in the Mining Area," planning to invest 275 million yuan to procure 286 hydrogen-powered engineering machinery, including 20 units of 9-ton dump trucks, 228 units of 31-ton dump trucks, 18 units of loaders, and 28 units of excavators. This marks a new stage in the equipment implementation for the transformation of this "capital of mining and metallurgy" into a "hydrogen energy city."
This tender is led by the Hubei Guanggu East State-owned Capital Investment and Operation Group and is the end-use application segment of Daye's 3.437 billion yuan hydrogen energy entire industry chain project. According to the announcement, the winning bidder must complete the delivery of all vehicles within 90 days after the contract signing. The vehicles will directly serve mining area transportation, mining, and other scenarios, forming a closed loop of "production - storage - transportation - utilization" with the Jiangqiao hydrogen production plant, which is already in operation, and the nation's first pilot base for hydrogen storage in caves.
As the only national-level hydrogen energy innovation and application project in Hubei Province, the "turning waste into treasure" model of the Daye hydrogen energy mine has been validated: the hydrogen storage cave, transformed from an abandoned mine, utilizes the surrounding rock structure to achieve low-cost and high-safety hydrogen storage; the photovoltaic power station on the tailings site generates 400 million kWh of electricity annually, supporting flexible hydrogen production through electrolyzers (PEM + alkaline dual routes), improving energy efficiency by 25% compared to traditional processes. Previously, 12 hydrogen-powered buses have been put into operation in Daye, with each bus reducing carbon emissions by over 40 tons annually. This batch procurement of engineering machinery is expected to reduce carbon emissions in the mining area by over 100,000 tons annually, equivalent to the carbon sequestration capacity of 3,000 mu of forest.
"This is not just equipment procurement, but also a milestone in the energy revolution of the mining area," the project leader revealed. The tender requires vehicles to adapt to a wide temperature range from -20℃ to 50℃, with a driving range exceeding 300 kilometers, matching the needs of the mining area with large temperature differences between day and night and long continuous operation times. Currently, the Jiangqiao hydrogen production plant has achieved mass production, the deep hydrogen storage pilot base is about to be put into operation, and the intelligent management and control platform of the hydrogen energy innovation technology park can monitor data from the entire industry chain in real time, providing "hydrogen-electricity synergy" support for vehicle operations.
Industry insiders believe that Daye's tender sends multiple signals: on the one hand, it promotes local hydrogen energy equipment manufacturing through "promoting production through utilization," driving the technological implementation of enterprises such as Zoomlion and Tomorrow Hydrogen Energy; on the other hand, it provides a "mine + hydrogen energy" transformation model for over 3,000 mining areas nationwide - transforming mining-left chambers and tailings sites into energy spaces, achieving a circular economy of "mining - restoration - rebirth."As the bidding deadline of August 14 approaches, this "battle" for 286 hydrogen energy equipment may reshape the equipment landscape of green mines in the central region.
