On June 27, 2025, GE Vernova announced that its joint venture with Harbin Electric Corporation, namely Harbin Electric GE Gas Turbine (Qinhuangdao) Co., Ltd., had signed a long-term service agreement with Guangdong Yuedian Daya Bay Energy Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Guangdong Energy Group, for the combined cycle units of two GE Vernova 9HA.01 heavy-duty gas turbines equipped for the Daya Bay Petrochemical Zone Integrated Energy Station Project in Huizhou, Guangdong (hereinafter referred to as the "Huizhou Daya Bay Project"). The service period is expected to last up to 25 years. GE Vernova will provide comprehensive services and integrated solutions for the Huizhou Daya Bay Project, including spare parts, unit maintenance, technical support, and on-site services, ensuring the long-term and stable operation of the project. As of now, GE Vernova has signed long-term service agreements with four domestic power generation projects adopting 9HA gas turbines, continuously expanding the depth of its service in the local market.

As the first natural gas-hydrogen dual-fuel 9HA power plant in mainland China, the Huizhou Daya Bay Project ordered two combined cycle units of 9HA.01 heavy-duty gas turbines from GE Vernova and Harbin Electric Corporation in December 2021, and officially commenced commercial operation in July 2024. The project added 1.34 million kW of power to the power grid. In May 2025, the unit successfully completed hydrogen blending commissioning and will operate with a 10% (by volume) hydrogen blending ratio mixed with natural gas. Compared to coal-fired power plants of the same capacity, the Huizhou Daya Bay Power Plant reduces carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 2.5 million mt or more annually.

The 25-year long-term service agreement signed this time marks a new milestone and a new height in the cooperation between GE Vernova and Guangdong Yuedian Daya Bay Energy Co., Ltd. We sincerely thank Guangdong Yuedian Daya Bay Energy Co., Ltd. for its long-term trust and support in GE Vernova's gas power generation service team. We will continue to leverage our localized service advantages and profound HA-class gas turbine operation and maintenance experience to fully safeguard the stable and efficient operation of the project, and help both parties move towards a broader future of cooperation. In the future, we look forward to strengthening cooperation with more local enterprises, continuing to root ourselves in the Chinese market, and contributing wisdom and strength to the process of China's energy transition.

This long-term service agreement is the first signed by Harbin Electric GE Gas Turbine (Qinhuangdao) Co., Ltd., and also the first long-term service agreement signed by GE Vernova in Asia for a 9HA power plant using hydrogen-containing fuel that has already commenced commercial operation. GE Vernova's gas turbine units have accumulated decades of experience in hydrogen blending combustion, with over 120 gas turbines worldwide operating on low-calorific hydrogen-containing fuels for more than 8.5 million hours. GE Vernova is committed to accelerating the implementation pace of hydrogen blending technology in gas turbines to achieve cleaner and more efficient energy utilization.

As of March 2025, the global operating hours of GE Vernova's HA-class gas turbines had reached 3 million. In China, GE Vernova had secured a total of six 9HA gas turbine projects, encompassing 13 9HA-class gas turbines, with an installed capacity exceeding 9.7 million kW. It is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 10.5 million mt annually. The successful signing of the long-term service agreement for the Huizhou Daya Bay project further underscores GE Vernova's technological edge in the gas-fired power generation sector and its robust localized service capabilities. In the future, GE Vernova will continue to collaborate with leading domestic energy enterprises to provide timely, efficient, and cost-effective products and services to local customers in China, jointly exploring more energy solutions, and comprehensively supporting the construction of China's new-type power system and the realization of the "dual carbon" goals.
